Registration deadline: February 8, 2017 (midnight EST)
While CFS does not designate courses as Advanced Placement (AP), students taking advanced coursework in a discipline may choose to sit for a corresponding AP exam. CFS partners with the North Carolina School of Science and Math (NCSSM) to host the majority of students wishing to sit for AP exams. Students who are approved for testing accommodations via the College Board will test at CFS. We are sorry but we are not able to accommodate students wishing to take AP exams in foreign languages or music; please consider taking a SAT Subject Test in your target language as an alternative. AP exams are typically held during the first two weeks of May each year, with designated exams offered during designated times on designated days. See the exam Calendar HERE.
CFS does not limit how many exams a student may take or limit what grades may sit for AP exams. It is strongly encouraged that students discuss their exam plans with teachers in the corresponding coursework, their advisor, and/or Melissa Kotačka.
The cost of an AP exam is $100; this includes the College Board fee of $93 plus a $7 administration fee to help cover staffing and other costs associated with test administration. Fee reductions and/or waivers are available upon request by the student’s family and are subject to approval by CFS staff.
Deadline to register: February 8, 2017
All exams must be pre-paid and pre-ordered via the online system, which accepts credit card or mail in check payments. To submit an order using check or money order, please complete the order online and follow the directions to mail your order form and payment to the address on your confirmation email. If registering for two exams scheduled for the exact same time and date, please contact email@example.com for assistance. Information regarding testing rooms and locations will be released closer to the exam administration.
It is strongly encouraged that students meet registration deadlines as published. Students wishing to register after the published deadlines may be subject to a $10 late registration fee and their registration is subject to testing availability. The late registration deadline for 2017 AP Exams is Wednesday, February 15.
Registration errors and/or changes
If a student inadvertently registers for the wrong exam, the test fee is transferable to the exam of choice with no additional fee through February 15. Between February 16 and April, there will be a $15 change fee to cover the cost of the unused exam. No changes can be made after April 1. The student must contact firstname.lastname@example.org as quickly as possible after the error is discovered. Please include your name, school of enrollment, and the name of the exam you wish to correct.
It is with regret that CFS is unable to refund test registration fees. We ask that you please plan deliberately and accordingly before registering for an exam.
For Students with Testing Accommodations
Each spring, information about applying for accommodations is sent to families of students who already have a learning plan in place at CFS. For students who do not yet have a learning plan in place, please contact Deepa Bhatt-Mackin for further information. Students must have a current learning plan on file with the Upper School to apply for College Board testing accommodations.
