Where will the AP testing take place?
All tests will be given at Grace Evan Church across the street from Houston High School.
What should I bring to the exam room?
Bring several # 2 pencils, pens with blue or black ink, calculator (if applicable), erasers, ruler (only if you are taking the AP Physics exam), and a watch (that doesn’t make any noise) if you want one.
What cannot be brought to the exam room?
No cell phones, electronic devices (other than approved calculators), purses, backpacks, highlighters, books. No food or drink. See Test Site Security Regulations on the Home Page.
How do I know where to report for my exam?
All students taking an AP Exam will be required to attend an AP Pre-Administration session at Houston during the school day in April. Room assignments and further details will be given out during these sessions.
When do I need to report to the testing room?
Morning exam: 7:30 sharp
Afternoon exam: 11:30 sharp
What if I am late?
Students will not be permitted to the testing room late for security reasons (per College Board policy). Late arrivals not admitted to the testing rooms are considered “no shows” and are not eligible for make up exams or a refund!
How do I know when the exam is?
The exam calendar is posted on the Calendar on this website. (Click here.) Teachers also have copies of the exam calendar.
How do I know how long each exam is?
On average, exams last three and one half hours. Please plan accordingly.
What if I have more than one exam scheduled for the same day and same time?
College Board makes provisions for students who wish to register to take two exams that are scheduled at the EXACT same time and date. Please email email@example.com immediately to get information on late testing registration and information.
What if I decide not to take an exam?
Students at Houston High School who are enrolled in AP classes are required to take the AP exam.
If I don’t take the exam, will I get a refund?
No. There are no refunds given.
What if I finish early? Can I leave early? Can I leave early because I have sports, work, other commitments?
Under no circumstance will a student be permitted to leave an AP exam early. This is per College Board’s security regulations. If a student leaves without permission, his/her exam will be collected and the score will be cancelled. Please be prepared to stay for the entire duration of the exam.
What if I get sick and can’t make the exam?
There are provisions for students who become sick or injured during or right before testing. In case of such an emergency, you must notify Mr. Ross by calling the adminsitration office at 901-756-2370 by 7:30AM. A doctor’s note may be required and an extra fee of $50 per exam from the student is charged! Late testing is only permitted May 22- May 24, 2019.
What happens if I register for the wrong exam?
If a student inadvertently registers for the wrong test, they must contact APTS (firstname.lastname@example.org) for assistance no later than March 7, 2019.
Are there any circumstances that allow for an alternate late testing date?
Per College Board regulations, there are some circumstances that allow for a student to take a late exam on an alternate testing date. Depending on the circumstance, there may be a late testing fee of $50 charged. Alternate late exams will be given on May 22-24 as per College Board.
