2. Why take the PSAT/NMSQT exam?

10th and 11th grade students are encouraged to take the PSAT for a variety of reasons: 1) it gives the most up-to-date picture of where you are likely to score on the actual SAT. This will assist you in determining where you wish to spend your time and effort in preparing for the SAT exam. 2) As a junior, you are entered as a part of the National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test (NMSQT), a competition that awards some top scoring students across the nation with scholarships. 3) Another chance at a practice exam is always a good idea. This will help you to get a feel for the actual exam, which helps to reduce testing anxiety.

3. When are scores released?

PSAT results will be available online in December via the student’s College Board Profile. When scores are ready online, the student will receive an email with instructions on creating their College Board account, going to the online score portal, and using their access code to view their score report. (If a student has taken an AP, SAT or PSAT Exam before, they should log into the College Board Profile they had created previously. Each student should have only ONE College Board profile.)

4. Can I cancel my exam and receive a refund?

No. Cancellations and refunds of the exam fees is not possible.

5. What if I miss the exam?

If you miss the exam offered on October 13, you can contact College Board to get a list of schools offering the alternate exam on October 24 (during school hours.)

6. What time do I report and how long is the exam?

Reporting time is 7:45am, the test will begin at 8:00am. Including time spent providing directions, breaks, and material collections, the exam will last approximately 4 hrs.
