How do I place an AP exam order?
Step 1: Activate Exam – Log into the College Board MyAP site at http://myap.collegeboard.org using your College Board profile and apply the ‘Join Code’ (access code) you receive from your teacher for each of your subjects.
College Board profiles are the same accounts used to order SAT exams, or to collect prior year PSAT/NMSQT or AP Exam scores. Do not create a new account if you already have one (see below for tips.)
Students will obtain a Join Code (access code) from their AP® Course teachers. Join Codes for the MyAP Site are subject, teacher and class period specific.
Once the student has joined the online AP Class group, they will be prompted to complete the MyAP Registration Profile pages.
ALL Students should join the MyAP AP Class groups to access free course resources. Students who are choosing to take the optional exams will also need to submit exam fees by October 31, 2023.
Step 2: Submit Exam Fees – To complete registration, the exam fees must be submitted by clicking the link below and completing the online payment form.
Fees may be submitted via credit card or debit card, OR by mailing in a check or money order. There will be an online payment fee of 3.1% for payments submitted by credit or debit card. Directions for payment can be found at the end of the online payment form and in your e-mail confirmation which will be sent to the parent email address you provide on the registration form. Postmark deadline to ensure timely mail in fee processing is October 26, 2023.
A penalty fee will be charged between November 16, 2023 and March 5, 2024 of $40 per exam.
No exam fees will be processed after March 5, 2024. Exams that are active on MyAP without a corresponding fee submission will be deactivated and not ordered.
Failure to complete both steps 1 and 2 by the applicable deadline means the AP Coordinator for your school cannot submit an exam order as initiated with College Board without penalty.
Tips for setting up your College Board Profile on MyAP:
– Use an email address that you will have access to throughout high school AND university
– Make sure to enter your COMPLETE legal name to prevent issues with sending score reports to colleges and universities
– Enter your school Student ID number in the field provided on MyAP. This will assist your school in accurate exam day attendance reporting
I can’t access my College Board Profile account or am not sure I have one. What do I do?
The College Board Profile is the same account used to access your past years’ AP scores, PSAT scores, and SAT scores. Do not create a new one! Each student should have only ONE unique account. If you are unable to access the account, try using the ‘Forget Password?’ link on http://myap.collegeboard.org OR email apstudents@info.collegeboard.org OR call 888-225-5427 for assistance.
Where do I get the Join Code to complete the join step on the MyAP site?
Join Codes are subject, teacher, and period specific. Many teachers will complete the Join Step in class since all students are encouraged to join the MyAP system for accessing instructional resources. If you were absent, please see your AP® teacher ASAP for the code. Deadline to join the online MyAP class and avoid penalty fees are listed above.
Joining the online class does NOT order the exam – exam fees must be submitted as well.
What if I miss the November deadline to submit a fee?
A penalty period for late payment submission is available November 16, 2023 through March 5, 2024. Click on ‘Submit AP Exam Fees’ below. A penalty fee will be added to the each exam of $40 per exam.
What if I missed the deadline to join the online class on MyAP?
AP® exams are optional exams, so unless a student completes the entire registration process, the school would need to assume you have decided not to sit for the AP Exam. If a student does not complete both steps (fee submission and Joining on MyAP ) an exam order cannot be fully initiated and submitted to College Board.
I’ve decided that I do not want to take the exam in May. Can I cancel my exam?
Students who request an exam cancellation by October 31 will be eligible for a full refund of exam fees. Credit/debit card fees are non-refundable. Exam cancellation requests submitted after October 31, 2023 and before April 1, 2024 (11:59pm PST) will be eligible for a partial refund. A $40 College Board cancellation penalty fee will be retained. Students who submitted a reduction price exam fee will forfeit the payment on file. To cancel email cancel@aptsusa.com and include your name, name of your school, the title of the exam to cancel.
Can I change when I take the exam?
Exam times are set by The College Board. Note that AP® Exams must be taken only at the times established by The College Board. Click the link below to view the national exam calendar.
Is there financial aid available for the 2024 AP® exams?
Fee reductions are available to students who are currently on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. If you are currently on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program, the fee is $5 per test. In order to register for AP® tests at the reduced price, please complete the steps below ASAP. If your application is approved, you will receive a Fee Reduction Code. Once you receive your code you will be able to register on the APTS payment website at the reduced amount. Code usage is verified with APTS.
How to Request Reduced Exam Fees

Reduced exam fees must be determined each year and no one is automatically qualified.
To qualify for reduced exam fees, families must complete the LCFF form.

What if I have two AP® exams at the exact date and time?
College Board makes provisions for students who would like to register to take two exams that are scheduled at the EXACT date and time. Please see Ms. Uribe in the Counseling Office immediately to get information on late testing locations and information. You will not be assessed a $40 late fee for exams offered at the exact date and time. Students who have exams back to back (one in the morning and one in the afternoon on the same date) are NOT eligible for late testing.
What if I get sick and can’t make the exam?
There are provisions for students who become sick or injured during or right before testing. In case of such an emergency, please contact your AP® Coordinator at your school IMMEDIATELY. A doctor’s note will be required. IMMEDIATE contact – if ill on the day of the scheduled exam – is crucial due to the deadlines involved in ordering make up materials.
What if I have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 plan?
The College Board must approve any changes or modifications to the AP® exam administration. Students with a current IEP or 504 Plan who wish to receive testing modifications must contact their case manager ASAP. We will work together to file the appropriate paperwork with College Board to allow testing modifications. Please note that College Board may take up to 4-6 weeks to grant approval for modifications. If you do not make the request to seek modifications in a timely manner, you may not get College Board approval.
